George Rocks The Barn.
If you wern't at the Barn this weekend, you missed out on one of the best festivals ever. We started on Friday with great music group The Woodbend Bluegrass Band from Edmonton. What a range of songs this group treated us to. Thanks Les for bringing them all down. We had a new incredible talent here, Lizzy Hoyt, who was truly amazing. What a voice. The Barn Dance All Stars had everyone dancing up a storm on the "Ken & Anne Shields Outdoor Dance Floor." Down to the Wood were showing the folks how much music you can get from three guys. WOW! Thanks for all the great tunes and your great freindship Curtis, Glen and Marc. Trevor Panzak took to the stage in the evening. What a great set. This man is on his way. Thank you so much Trevor for taking time out of your busy schedule. The Barn Dance Sweethearts were so much fun. Anne Shields, Rhonda Kunkel and Kayla Patrick had everyone singing along and clapping along. What a great show you girls put on. The evening saw us dancing under the stars to the Barn Dance All Stars. What a beautiful night. Saturday saw us anticipating the arrival of the Abrams Brothers. And boy they did not dissapoint. This group is truly one of the best bluegrass groups in the world. And what a super nice bunch of guys. Thanks guys.
Saturday night belonged to George Canyon. What an amazing performance. The songs the stories he told and his band was red hot. He told Lloyd Kunkel that this was one of the best perfomances he and his band had played. What a compliment. What a great man. He had an autograph signing session after the show and he stayed untill everyone had gotten his autograph. Thank you so much George for your talent, your faith and your inspiration to us all. A special thanks to Joe for all the hard work.
Classic Country AM 1060 had a bus load of contest winners here for Saturday night. Thanks to Danny for bringing the group down.
Our Barn Dance Saturday Night Radio Show Host Jimmy Hughes was on site to help with band introductions. Thanks for all your help Jimmy.
Of course with every festival it's the people behind the scenes who truly make the project a success. From all of our great staff and volunteers, (and I mean GREAT!!) to the sound and light crew from Sound Art, the backline equipment from KLM, our security force led by Dave Simms and our Resident Host couple Darryll and Donna Wilkonson to the Mid Rivers Fire Department and all of their EMT's. Our genorous sponosors, Sly Steaming and Cleaning, Sky Jackers Snubbing Ltd., Ashbros Interprises, Cardston Dairy Queen, Pincher Creek Office Supplies, the Executive Royal Inn, Lee Creek Campground, Pepsi Bottling Company, Cardston Source for Sports and of course our great friends at Travel Alberta and Classic Country AM 1060. We could not have done this without all of you.
And last but most definately not least a great big Barn Dance Thank You to all of our guests who took in one incredible weekend. Thank you for your support, freindship and we hope to see you all next year at the 6th Annual Bluegrass & Classic Country Festival. I know I'm not gonna miss it.
